Badshah on song

With two singles out already, Badshah plans to release another one before launching his debut album Original Never Ends in March

At a time when half the people despise remakes and the other half are absolutely in love with the way Badshah adds his magical touch to old forgotten numbers to make them palatable for the younger generation, the artist is all set to launch his full-fledged debut album with original tracks. Speaking of creativity in the music industry, Badshah claims that this album envelopes a lot of introspection and dialogue, along with other technical surprises that his fans usually expect from him.

After Mercy, Badshah has come out with another single titled Kareja. It’s edgy, refreshing, and gets you bobbing your head and tapping your feet. The artist reveals that he’s going to release another single but is tight-lipped about it for now. But what he does talk about is his debut album – O.N.E, which is an abbreviation of Original Never Ends.

The collaborations
Talking about collaborations on his album, he says, “There are not going to be many collaborations. There are a couple of new artists and then there’s Aastha Gill, but that’s about it. Aastha is like a little sister, she’s been with us for about four years now, and she’s tremendously talented. Next month her song is going to be out, and that’s when listeners will get to know what she’s all about. She’s developed into a really good performer.

The ONE
The album is going to feature 14 original songs by Badshah – all written, sung and produced by the man. “Initially when I thought of the title, it was just ‘one’, like the number. It was about being my first album, my number one,” says he, adding, “But then as we progressed with making the album, I thought of expanding it to Original Never Ends because all the songs are my creations. They are not inspired by anything external, they are not remakes, they are a part of me. And there was also an undertone of me being the number one artist now and how I’ve struggled for it. I have struggled a lot. I was born into a middle-class family, we didn’t have much, but we had enough. And this album is like a reward for making it till here. It’s about how I entered the music industry and Bollywood, and traces my journey. ”

He believes that he is an inspiration for budding artists and shares that this album is for those who have big dreams but don’t have the resources to chase them right now. “I think it’s my duty to be honest with my fans and tell them the story of how I got to where I am right now,” he says.

New phase
The artist believes that he is entering a new phase in his life, and career, which is why he needed to get these songs out of his system. There is one song on the album that is inspired by his one-year-old daughter. “This album is a time stamp of sorts. I think my listeners have also grown and evolved along with me. A lot of them have also become fathers and mothers, I think I need to give them something to listen to and connect with as well – that’s going to happen in my next album,” shares Badshah.

Videos, tours and Bollywood
There will be a music video for Kareja, and all Badshah can say about it right now is that it’s going to be “exciting.” On the Bollywood front, there are a lot of originals he plans to belt out. “There are going to be a few remakes as well. All in all, I can say that I’m going to be out with a lot of music this year. I am very hungry right now, and only new music can satiate me. This is going to be a very important year for me,” he says.

The artist has planned a tour for the album as well. “The production value of the concerts are going to be very high. This tour is something I really want to show to the world, and I will be really proud to execute it, though it’s all in the conceptualising stage now,” he says.
