Around 50 million Indians vacationed overseas in 2019!

Earlier, having a vacation abroad was considered luxurious. Only affluent Indians could afford it. However, with the changing times, travel has become much more affordable. While the affluent middle class from the metros and mini-metros contribute the lion’s share towards international travel, increasingly, people from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities and towns are also choosing a holiday abroad and thus creating an increase in the demand for suitable holiday experiences.

As per the UN world tourism organisation, there has been an average annual growth rate of 10-12 per cent in Indian outbound travellers over the last seven years. About 50 million Indians went overseas for vacations in 2019.

While experiential travel continues to gain momentum, there will be more interesting trends in 2020. Travellers today seek destinations that offer the pure sweetness of discovery, where they can find secluded shores, sun-washed cities and moonlit bays. The new-age traveller is no longer opting for the trodden, the congested and the expected.
