Arjan Bajwa’s debut web series – State of Siege 26/11 is based on Sandeep Unnithan’s best-selling novel Black Tornado: The Three Sieges of Mumbai 26/11. The eight-episode series is streaming on Zee5.

Arjan Bajwa is happy with the kind of edgy and exciting stories being told on the digital platform. His debut web series – State of Siege 26/11 is based on Sandeep Unnithan’s best-selling novel Black Tornado: The Three Sieges of Mumbai 26/11. The eight-episode series is streaming on Zee5.

Arjan believes it’s high time we give our due respect to our defence forces by telling their stories.

“The OTT is a great platform for those who have stories that can be told in a long format and in an elaborate way, which we otherwise could not tell in movies. We are also making edgy films like Uri, and I think the State of Siege is the Uri of the OTT platform. We have tried to deal with an incident which has been a scar on our country. It’s high time we give due respect to our defence forces,” says Arjan, who plays the commanding officer in the NSG team, who runs the operation Black Tornado.

Throwing more light to his role, Arjan adds, “Col Sunil Sheoran led the operation. He was chief of the unit, and I am playing him in the series.”

He says that because Sheoran is such a larger-than-life personality and that to play him on screen was a very big deal.

“You, therefore, do not want to falter in its portrayal and stuff he has done during those times. It is also a lot of pressure because like I said, you do not want to dishonour anything that Col Sheoran has done. He has been instrumental in the operation and has rescued hundreds of civilians. It was a huge responsibility,” he says.

Arjan believes that the makers of the series have tried to portray the characters and tell the story in the best possible way. “We have made it look as authentic as possible,” he says.

To get into their respective characters, Arjan says that apart from the physical transformation where he has tried to look like a commando, go lean, they have worked on other aspects too.

“We have tried to understand their mind and how they operate, gone through weaponry training, and learned the language they use both normally and during operations. We had all kind of training at the boot camp,” he says.

Shooting the series was very interesting for him because of the character he was playing.

“Each one us had a great time shooting together. It was a great experience working,” says the Kabir Singh actor, who has few other web projects in the pipeline.

State of Siege 26/11 also stars Arjun Bijlani, Vivek Dahiya, Mukul Dev, Sid Makkar, Tara Alisha Berry and others. State of Siege 26/11 also stars Arjun Bijlani, Vivek Dahiya, Mukul Dev, Sid Makkar, Tara Alisha Berry and others.
