‘Exploring new genres is exciting’

One of the most-popular finite shows on Indian television, Naagin, in its fourth season, is set to go on air today (December 14) on Colors TV. Titled Naagin —  Bhagya Ka Zehreela Khel, the series stars Nia Sharma, Jasmine Bhasin, Vijayendra Kumeria, and Sayantani Ghosh, among others. The fictional fantasy, which will air every weekend, is produced by Ekta Kapoor.

Vijayendra Kumeria, who plays the character of businessman Dev Parekh, says, “He has been living in Qatar for many years because his mother wants him to. With the problem in his janam kundali, living in India is not advisable for him. He is not superstitious though. He is a fun-loving and responsible man,” Kumeria explains.

The Udaan actor says that the fantasy fiction is a new genre he is exploring and is, therefore, exciting. “Also, the Naagin brand is so huge, Ekta is producing the show and it will air on Colors, so it is a combination of so many things,” he says. Speaking of the earlier seasons and how this one will be different, he says that the storyline itself is different. “In this story, the destiny of two girls is interlinked,” he adds.

Owing to the popularity of the series, Kumeria says that there is immense responsibility on the new cast, but they are not letting it affect them. “We are not letting the pressure of living up to the expectations of the audience hamper our performances. We will give our best as actors and I am sure the audience will like our work too,” he says.

CONTENT PARAMOUNT
When it comes to enjoying the fantasy fiction genre, he says that he likes anything that entertains him. “I do not want to restrict myself to watching a particular genre when it comes to films, TV show, web series. I should get hooked on to the content.”

He believes that he has been lucky to be able to play strong characters. “Whatever lead characters I have played, they have been strong. Same is the case with Naagin,” says the actor who has worked in TV shows like Sufiyana Pyaar Mera, Shastri Sisters, Tumhari Paakhi and others.
