‘Every woman must have good woman friends’

Women do not share their emotions and suppressed emotions adversely affect their health. That is why every woman must have good women friends, with whom they can speak their heart out,” said renowned actress Sonali Kulkarni while inaugurating FLO Pune Haat — a unique exhibition of artefacts that brought rural artisans and urban women entrepreneurs on the same platform. The event was organised by FLO (FICCI Ladies Organisation) Pune Chapter at Poona Club on February 22 and 23.

Present at the occasion were Neena Saini, regional president, Army Wives Welfare Association, Southern Command, Sangeeta Lalwani, chairperson, FLO Pune Chapter, Smita Patwardhan, vertical head of this initiative, Christine Khalsa, senior vice chairperson, Sabina Sanghvi, former chairperson, Divya Seth-Shah, actress.

Kulkarni praised FLO Pune Haat initiative and said that it is very nice to see women empowering others from their gender. She said, ‘‘I can see the change taking place, in the mindset and other aspects too. Efforts are being made to bridge the gap between the rich class and those who are struggling. We are trying to rise as one nation and I feel it is very important at this point.’’

Lalwani said, ‘‘FLO Pune Haat is the endeavour to reward craft and to create equal opportunity for rural artisans and talented urban women.’’ She also said that every day new women are joining hands with FLO and thus it has become one of the biggest women’s organisations in Asia with 6,800 members.
