‘Every Friday brings a new hero'

Tiger Shroff and Hrithik Roshan are at ‘War’ in the Yash Raj banner's actioner releasing today. Tiger is working with Yashraj and Hrithik for the first time. We chatted him up on the film, his love for the action genre and more. Excerpts:

- War is based on the guru-shishya bond. Who is your guru in the film industry?
Producer Sajid Nadiadwala. I have learnt a lot from him. I learnt how to survive in this snazzy show business and what kind of work to do from him. He also told me about a few minute things about the industry, so I consider him my guru.

Besides, I have also been inspired by Hrithik Roshan. His work always influences me. In War, we play a guru-shishya pair and off screen too, I consider our relationship to be that of a guru and shishya.

- When you were offered War, what was your first reaction?
I was elated. The fact that Hrithik had already been cast and I was going to get to work with him for the first time, really excited me. I heard about my role and immediately said yes.

- What is your role like? What was your takeaway from it?
I am playing an agent working with an intelligence  agency. So my character knows how to convince people about things and how to narrate an event to them. And he has learnt it all from his mentor. The role taught me a lot. I have started giving importance to many things now.

- You worked with Hrithik for the very first time. How was the chemistry between the two of you?
Excellent! We are a lot like each other when it comes to work. Since I too love dancing, it was easy to coordinate with him. We understood each other really well, and carried out our jobs smoothly. I really enjoyed working with Hrithik and  learnt a lot from him as well.

- How challenging was it doing the high-octane action scenes in the film?
The kind of action scenes that have been shot for War, have never been seen in the history of Bollywood. So it was little tough. I had to work a lot on myself to play the role convincingly. But I always work hard for any role and try to see what more can I do than what the director has told me to.

- Tell us about your liking for action entertainers.
Since I was a child, I dreamt of being an action hero one day. Also, the industry has become extremely competitive today. Every Friday brings a new hero, so I choose action films to prove myself. I don't think there is anything wrong in it.

- Siddharth Anand has a unique style of functioning. What did you like about his direction the most?
I have learnt something from every director that I have worked with. The remarkable thing about Siddharth is that he doesn’t start shooting the scene unless he is clear about the concept of the shot. And he portrays every scene very well.

- This is also your first project with Yash Raj. How was the experience?
It was great! Aditya Chopra is not only a good producer but also an excellent director. Along with the story, he also works on the screenplay. He keeps a keen eye on the project and encourages everyone to do their best. It's fun to work with him.

- You are also a good singer. You sang on a reality show recently.
I sang on The Kapil Sharma Show and it was for the first time that I did it. I have never tried to do that before. But the audiences seemed to have liked my singing. In the future, if I get an opportunity to sing for a movie, I will definitely love to take it up.
