‘BANG’ on!

‘BANG’ on!

At the recently- concluded Da-Bangg The Tour Pune, Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Sonakshi Sinha, Daisy Shah, Prabhudheva and Guru Randhawa left the audience mesmerised. AMRITA PRASAD brings us the ground report along with visuals captured by VAIBHAV THOMBARE and PARAG JADHAV

The wait was finally over for around 35,000 people as they eagerly gathered for their favourite stars to perform at Da-Bangg The Tour Pune. For die-hard Salman Khan fans, the concert on March 24, at Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Sports Complex, Mhalunge, Balewadi, was a treat. The team comprising Salman, Katrina Kaif, Prabhudheva, Sonakshi Sinha, Daisy Shah and Guru Randhawa set the stage on fire with their power-packed performances on Saturday. Hosted by Maniesh Paul, the concert was high on energy and entertainment.

Four Pillars Events, in association with 18 Degrees, Nirman Group and Sakal, presented Da-Bangg The Tour, managed, directed and scripted by Sohail Khan Entertainment and JA Events. Already a hit in Hong Kong, Auckland, Melbourne, and Delhi, the show gave Puneites a high dose of dance, music and fun.

It kicked off with Maniesh’s dance performance Bang Bang Da-bangg where he introduced celebrities with some dance and rap. Dressed in an all-black outfit, accomplished dancer and Salman’s co-star Daisy increased the tempo with her hip-swaying movements on Trippy Trippy, Nacho Re, Photocopy Jai Ho, etc.

Prabhudheva was another delight with his ‘smooth as butter’ dance moves. It was a visual treat watching the Indian Michael Jackson dance live to songs like Urvashi Urvashi, Chik Pak Chik Pak Raile, Chalmaar, Go Go Go Govinda and others. While the audience was still in awe of Prabhudheva’s mesmerising dance moves, Dabangg girl Sonakshi’s performance made many dance in their seats. Her bindaas attitude and expressions could not be given a miss. Shaking a leg to some of her peppy hits Gandi Baat, Saree Ke Fall Sa, Move Your Lakk Baby, Gulaabi Aankhen 2 and so on, she left the audience asking for more.

Known for her killer moves, Katrina, in a golden shimmery dress, began to sway to Sheila Ki Jawani, Swag Se Swagat, Kala Chashma, and other such tracks. She cast a spell on the audience just before Salman made his entry.

We must say that Salman has quite a lot of charm even at 52 and dances like a 20-year-old. Kicking off his performance with O O Jaane Jaana and dancing to Jeene Ke Hain Chaar Din, Ek Garam Chai Ki Pyali, Jalwaa, Hud Hud Dabangg, Do You Wanna Partner, Chori Chori Chupke Se, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Jaanam Samjha Karo, Love Me, Maria Maria, I Love You, etc, he proved that he has got a lot of swag and still makes girls go ‘awww’.

After a high octane performance by the Sultan actor, popular singer-songwriter Guru transported us to the land of Punjab. He crooned numbers like High Rated Gabru, Lahore, Suit Suit, Ban Meri Rani, Patola before Salman came back with his leading ladies and also sang numbers like Main Hoon Hero Tera, Dil Diyan Gallan, Teri Meri, Tere Naina, Tere Mast Mast, Jag Ghumeya, Humko Maloom Hai. But it was his signature hook step from the song Dil Deewana that was the highlight of his performance and with his sizzling chemistry with Katrina, the performance was a hit among the audience.

The show concluded on a high note with a grand finale where all the stars came on stage and did one final power-packed dance to sign off an evening full of glitz, glamour and entertainment.
