Of theatre & lot more- Sajna Kapoor

In city to inaugurate Gyaan Adab’s ongoing three days ‘Journeys: A Festival of the Arts’, Sanjna Kapoor frankly spoke to Sakal Times about theatre, politics and a lot more.

Exploring viable financial models for theatre, and making it less dependable on sponsorships has been a topic she’s deeply interested in. It is the “garibi of our minds” that’s keeping young, well-earning audience from paying for higher-priced theatre tickets. “The theatre community’s refusal to find a solution to the financial aspect is also absurd. The artist is supreme, but money is a real issue too. Theatre management, economic administration are not an antithesis to arts but a service to it. It’s our poverty of imagination that stops us from thinking of all the possibilities that will help attract more money to theatre,” Kapoor expresses.
