Scores 40-24 victory over Laybhari PCMC; Purandar triumphs 51-37 over Pune.
Pune: Zunzhar Khed opened their campaign in style as they defeated Laybhari Pimpri Chinchwad (Laybhari PCMC) 40-24 in the Pune League Kabaddi, which started at Balewadi Sports Complex, Boxing Hall, on Friday.
Zunzhar Khed looked in total control right from the start and were ahead throughout the match.
A tight game from Zunzhar Khed helped them, as they to forced three ‘all outs’ on Laybhari Pimpri Chinchwad, which put them completely on the back foot.
The match started on a steady note with both the teams collecting points in tandem. At the half time, the score was 18-14 with Zunzhar Khed having a 4-point advantage.
After the change of ends, Zunzhar Khed looked the more potent team and Sushant Shelke produced a super raid and from there onwards Zunzhar Khed never looked back, as they forced a second all out and took a 26-16 lead.
Laybhari PCMC were putting their best efforts on the mat but it could not bring results as Zunzhar Khed proved out to be too strong in the end, as they walked home with a 40-24 win.
Chhava Purandar win
Chhava Purandar displayed an all-round performance to notch a 51-37 victory over Vegwan Pune. Vivek Thule turned out to be the standout performer for Chhava Purnadar, as he produced two super raids and did most of the damage to the home team.
Vegwan Pune captain Tushar Chavan was impressive as well but his team made some silly mistakes, which cost them the match.
The match was equally poised till half time with Chhava Purandar leading with only 4 points. After resumption, Chhava Purandar went all guns blazing and collected points in bulk.
Vegwan Pune was also ‘all out’ four times, which made things easier for Chhava Purandar.
