“I am ready to do anything to get the club back on its feet. I am hopeful that the government understands that such high GST is in no one’s interest,” he added.

Pune: With love for horses and racing at his heart, Zavaray Poonawalla has put his hat in the ring to help revive the declining financial health of the Royal Western India Turf Club by offering a host of measures to improve overall functioning of the club.

“I have a vision to bring in the glory days to RWITC, but the main issue is GST and how we convince the Union Government to reduce the current rate of 28 percent,” Poonawalla told Sakal Times in an interview.

“I am ready to do anything to get the club back on its feet. I am hopeful that the government understands that such high GST is in no one’s interest,” he added.

Even as the voting for the new committee of the RWITC has already begun, Poonawalla, who is leading the ‘Clean Racing Panel’ hopes that the members will give his team of passionate horse lovers a chance to work for the betterment of the club.

“I am confident that four others in my panel are on the same page and they understand that GST reform is most imperative for everyone connected with racing,” he said.

Clean Racing panel:
For Committee: Zavaray Poonawalla, Zinia Lawyer, Milan Luthria, Geoffrey Nagpal, Surendra Sanas.

For Board of Appeal: Dilip Goculdas, Hoshang Nazir.
