Coimbatore: After a dull start to the weekend Vishnu Prasad came out with sizzling performance to bag a double podium in the Euro JK 17 category in the Round 3 of the 20th JK Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championship on Sunday.
On a Day 2 at Kari Motor Speedway, everything went right for Vishnu as he took second place in Race 3 and a top position in Race 4.
Vishnu faced a tough time despite starting on pole as Anindith Reddy challenged him to the hilt in the Race 3. The race became tougher with Australian Ricky Capo and Nayan Chattterjee chased them in the second flank.
Anindith makes good start
Anindith overtook Vishnu in the fifth lap and then maintained the lead till the end. Ricky finished third.
In the Race 4, it was again tussle between Vishnu and Anindith, which dished out one interesting show on the track. Both the experienced drivers overtook each other a couple of times but at the end it was Vishnu who took the chequered flag.
“It is good to get back on podium. Yesterday (Saturday) was a very bad day for me but now I will give my best in Round 4,” said Vishnu Prasad.
Kerala boy Diljith TS proved to be too good for other competitors as he won both Race 3 and Race 4 in LGB Formula 4 category.
From pole to finish everything went right for the Dark Don Racing driver. Another Dark Don driver, Sandeep Kumar, took third and second positions respectively in the two races.
“At the start of the race we had a plan for Raghul Rangasamy of M Sports and we did not allow him to go ahead but soon I realised that Sandeep may overtake me so I decided not to worry about both of them and focus on staying ahead,” Diljith reflected after the race.
Spain for Lalhruaizela
Mizoram’s Lalhruaizela finished off Red Bull Rookie Cup Challenge with the third position in the final race. His state-mate Lalnunsanga took second place while Sri Lankan, Jaden Gunawardena, maintained his top position in the last race as well.
Lalhruaizela was still left smiling though as he had already booked his all-expenses paid trip to Spain for the prestigious Road to MotoGP qualifiers in October. He collected a total of 56 points while Lalnunsanga had 46 points.
In Gixxer Race 2, Malsawmdawngliana from Aizawl finished on top ahead of Ahmedabad’s Sachin Chaudhary and Chennai’s
