Vedant stamps its authority, clinches third weekly rapid chess title in style

Pune: Nashik boy Vedant Pimpalkhare won the 49th edition of MJ’s Trophy Every Sunday Rapid Championship with ease.

With this win, Vedant completed a hat-trick of wins in Every Sunday Rapid Chess Championship. Victory turned out to be sweeter for Vedant, as he did not lose a single match on the day. 

Vedant scored 7 points out of 8 rounds and though there was a tie for first place between him and Biswajit Nayak - the top seeded player, Vedant was lucky to gain an edge in Bucholz score.

Two of the most promising youngsters, Aditya Samant and Keval Nirgun once again kept their seats in the elite top five bracket. They won third and fifth fifth prizes respectively.

The tournament was held in 8 round Swiss league format and the Chief arbiter was International Arbiter Rajendra Shidore assisted by Senior National Arbiter Amit Sohany.
