Pune: Hockey players from the age group of Under-12, Under-14 and Under-18 started to learn hockey lessons in the summer hockey coaching camp at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Poligras Stadium in Pimpri.
The one-month camp, which started on April 14, was officially inaugurated on Sunday. The camp has been organised by Pimpri Chinchwad Muncipal Cooperation in association with Vikram Pillay Academy.
Around 250 hockey players are taking part in the camp. Boys and girls are being provided t-shirts, hockey sticks and hockey balls during the camp.
The timing for the camp is 7 to 9 in the morning and 4 to 6 in evening.
Present on the ocassion were Shravan Hardikar - Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner, Eknath Pawar - Leader of the House from BJP in PCMC. Hockey players Olympian Vikram Pillay, Vikas Pillay, umpire Shridharan Thamba.
“Commitment, discipline and aim are the three qualities, which are important to become a sportsperson. If you have all these qualites, then you can also become a player like Olympian Vikram Pillay. You just need to devote timing for practice everyday,” said Shravan Hardikar - Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner (PCMC) during the inauguration.
