State girls clinch waterpolo gold

Pune: Maharashtra girls defeated Police 7-6 to clinch a gold medal in the waterpolo event of the Senior National Aquatic Competition which was held at Bhopal.

Rajeshree Gugale from Maharashtra was in good form as she scored three goals while Komal Kirave and Pooja Kumare added two goals each as the Maharashtra team walked home with the gold medal.

Maharashtra last won the gold in the year 2010 thus ending a seven year wait for the same.

The Maharashtra team included Sanjli Wankhade, Radhika Kadu, Vaishnavi Shriwas, Aditi Varunkar, Nisha Bonde, Payal Gahankari, Komal Kirve, Namrata Vywahare, Rajeshree Gugale, Swapnali Suryawanshi, Sachi Shah, Pooja Kumbre, and Mansi Gawade.
