State cyclist ready to make most of home conditions

Pune: A strong team of 32 members is geared up to deliver bright performance in the 14th MTB National Championship at the Oxford Golf Course, which starts on Friday.

This will be the fourth time in a row when the city is getting the privilege to host mountain biking championship. Maharashtra team will face tough competition from the teams of Karnataka and Kerala.

All eyes will be on city boys Bheem Rokaya, Surya Thattu and Vitthal Bhosale, who will represent Maharashtra team in men’s category. Other cyclists who are in the team are from Pimpri-Chinchwad, Thane, Nashik, Baramati, Ahmednagar and Kolhapur with Biru Bhojane as coach.

Men: Bheem Rokaya, Surya Thattu, Vitthal Bhosale, Bharat Sonawane, Arun Bhoye, Gopinath Mundhe
Boys:
Under-18, Junior: Vivek Waykar, Akshay Karekar
Under-16, Sub-junior: Siddhesh Sharma, Onkar Angre, Bhushan Chavan, Saurabh Kajale
Under-14, Youth: Mangesh Takmoge, Onkar Khedekar, Nisarg Bhamre
Women: Priyan Karande, Pranjal Patole  
Girls:
Under-18, Junior: Pranita Soman, Priya Dodake, Swapnali Sutar, Suyash Kadam, Vinit Ahire. (Reserve: Aditya Thite)
Under-16, Sub Junior: Rishika Lalwani, Anuja Ugle, Savita Pananjal, Aishwarya Khude
