Pune: The city is all set to host the National Finals of India’s longest running corporate golf tournament, MercedesTrophy, at Oxford Golf Course on Friday.
Qualification legs were conducted across India to shortlist 45 finalists, who will showcase their talent in Pune.
Out of the 45 finalists, three deserving winners will make it to the World Finals of the most sought after amateur corporate golf event, slated to be held in Stuttgart, Germany, in September this year. Celebrity Golfers like Kapil Dev have also qualified for the National Finals of MercedesTrophy 2018 and will be seen in action.
The India tournament, which began in Pune in January, travelled through Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Chennai, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Gurugram, Greater Noida and Jaipur.
The event also saw participation from many celebrities which included R Madhavan in Mumbai, former Indian cricketer Venkatapathy Raju in Hyderabad, Karun Nair and Yuzvendra Chahal in Bengaluru and Murali Kartik in the Gurugram leg.
MercedesTrophy every year, as a tradition, gives a wild card entry into the National Finals to the winner of Best Maintained Car Grand Lucky Draw. This year, Gurdeep Singh Mamik from Delhi will play at the National Final as a part of the same.
