Sindhu, Srikanth stand above all

PUNE: PV Sindhu and Kidambe Srikanth were honured with ‘Sportsperson of the year award’ in a Multi-Sport awards organised by ESPN.in.

With their prime form duo has taken Indian badminton to the different level. Sindhu had an memorable year with clinching titles in India Open and Korea Open while Srikanth bagged four Super Series titles.

Srikanth became the only Indian and the fourth player ever to achieve it in a calendar year. Indian Women’s Hockey team bagged the ‘Team of the year’ title by underscoring their perseverance towards winning their first Asia Cup in 13 years, winning every match they played and catapulting the team’s ranking to No.10, its best International Hockey Federation ranking.

‘Moment of the Year’ award—decided through public poll— was awarded to Jeakson Singh’s goal in the U-17 FIFA World Cup 2017.
