Siju’s triple powers St Patrick’s surge

Pune: St. Patrick’s High School and Junior College rode on a three goal effort by Siju George to roll past The Lexicon International School 5-0 in a senior boys league match of the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports football tournament at the Shri Shivaji Preparatory Military Day School and Junior College ground here on Saturday.

Elwin Francis drew first blood for St Patrick with a 13th minute strike before Siju George took charge booting two goals in the 14th and 20th minutes. Pratik Thorat swelled the tally with a 29th minute goal to help St Patrick’s surge to a 4-0 half-time lead.

After resumption, Siju struck his third to complete St Patrick’s easy win in the Group C clash.

Later, in the same group Poona College of Arts Science & Commerce registered a similar 5-0 victory over St Vincent Night College.

Two goals each from Vinay Kondamuri (7th, 12th) and Santosh Rathod (21st, 33rd) helped Poona College gain a 4-0 lead at the break. Adnan Memon added one more to the scoreline with a 48th goal.

In a Group B contest, Anglo Urdu Boys’ High School played out a 1-1 draw against Army Public School, Ghorpadi.

Anglo Urdu Boys gained the early initiative with Robin Pillay 15th minute goal but Ankur Rai equalised in the 33rd minute for Army School.
