Sailors and Lions top respective groups to make it to semifinals

PUNE: Kunal Agarwal smashed 17-ball 30 with three hits to the boundary as Sailors registered their fifth straight win and topped the Group A table with 10 points and qualified for the semifinals of the Poona Club Premier League Cricket tournament at the Poona Club cricket ground here.

Also making it to the semifinals were Group B toppers Lions, All Stars and Jets as the league matches concluded.

In Group B action, Jets won by 7 wickets in a low-scoring encounter against Typhoons.

Atharva Bandal’s two-wicket haul helped Jets restrict Typhoons to 44 for 6 and then they wrapped up the required runs in 4.3 overs losing just one wicket.

In the other consequential match, Lions rode on the knocks of Shivam Jha (33) and Kiran Deshmukh (24) to post 76 for 4 in their allotted 6 overs against Destroyers, who then managed mere 40 for 5 when Aniruddha Sanap struck two crucial blows.
