D Todywalla trained Ruffina should have a bold show in the 1200 metres Akkasaheb Maharaj Trophy, a rich (Grade 3) race for (Terms, Indian Horses, 4 years old and over, the feature event of Saturday’s Pune races. 

This prestigious feature, is in a card of six events and is scheduled to be run for the afternoon. 

With, the highest rated filly Ruffina, the coast is now clear for the purple filly, Ruffina is all set to win the above race as she has no serious rival. 

Hence, the impeccably bred filly Ruffina who is presently very fit, and has no opposition worth considering and will emerge victorious in splendid style.  

Six races will be held this afternoon and punters may cash in on Next Star (1-6), Sandra (3-7) and Flaming Martini (5-8).

Race 2: 1600m Angels Touch (1) Elegant Beauty (2) Goshawk (3).
Race 3: 1400m Sandra (7) Anatevka (6) Silver Locket (2) Angels Harmony (3).
Race 4: 1200m Ruffina (1) Captain Courage (6) Lincoln (8).
Race 5: 1200m Flaming Martini (8) Notting Hill (3) Myrcella (10).
Race 6: 1800m Doubledown (4) Romantic Eyes (5) Brazos (2).
Day’s best: Flaming Martini (5-8).

BRIEF HISTORY
This race was first run in 1977 in Pune. Originally run for Class I horses over 1,200m the inaugural running was won by Stingo owned by MN Irain, Zeenia Lawyer and Bakhtawar B Chenoy, trained by Bezan Chenoy and ridden jockey Chunilal. The winners prize was Rs.24,000/-. Akkasaheb Maharaj was a owner and belonged to the royal family of Kolhapur. The race converted to a terms race for four year olds and over and is traditionally run on the first weekend of August, except this year.
