PUNE: Unseeded Riya Matharoo made a strong case for herself as she stormed into the semi-finals of 31st Pravin Trophy Under 12 National ranking Tennis Tournament and played at the Hill Side Gymkhana tennis courts, Bibvewadi on Thursday.

Riya entered the semi-final with a 6-1, 6-1 demolition of unseeded Purva Bhujbal, where she will be joined by Ira Shah, Ruma Gaikaiwari and Kashmira Sumbre.

Top seed Ira was worthy billing for her top seed as she dished out a clinical performance to brush aside fifth seed Ananya Bhatia 6-0, 6-1 in matter of 25 minutes. Such was Ira’s dominance, that she lost just one game to Ananya.

In another match, second seed Ruma Gaikaiwari beat Aditi Lakhe in a straightforward 6-2, 6-2 win.

In boy’s section, Jaishnav Shinde edged past Arnav Paparkar 6-3, 6-2 to move into the semifinal round Top seed Manas Dhamne, second seeded  Jaishnav Shinde, third seeded Raghav Harsh and fourth seeded Anshul Satav made it to the semifinals. 

In the girls top seed Ira Shah, second seeded  Ruma Gaikaiwari, made it to the semifinals in the girls event. Duo faced no trouble in winning their respective matches.

Boys: 1-Manas Dhamne bt Azmeer Shaikh 6-0, 6-3; 2-Jaishnav Shinde bt 5-Arnav Paparkar 6-3, 6-2; 3-Raghav Harsh bt Prathamesh Patil 6-0, 6-1; 4-Anshul Satav bt Ashwin Narsinghani 6-0, 6-1. 

Girl: 1-Ira Shah bt 5-Anannya Bhatia 6-0, 6-1; 2-Ruma Gaikaiwari bt 7-Aditi Lakhe 6-2, 6-2; 6-Kashmira Sumbre bt Jui Kale 6-4, 6-3; Riya Matharoo bt Purva Bhujbal 6-1, 6-1.
