Pune: Five city cueists Ravi Satore, Vedant Doshi, Vivek Mehetre, Shubham Randhe and Santosh Dharmadhikari moved into the main draw of the 2nd Rajabhau Shahade Cup PYC-Green Baize Open Snooker Challenge, at the PYC Hindu Gymkhana on Sunday.
On the second day of qualifying, Wakad’based Ravi and Santosh overcame their opponents with hard fought 2-1 wins. Ravi put aside Pankaj Parmar 56-33, 33-61, 46-30 and Santosh downed Ruturaj Jorag after recovering from a first frame loss 36-64, 54-30, 54-23.
On the other hand, RCBC’s Vedant Doshi accounted for Ashish Hule from Khadki 50-34, 61-49. Similarly, Vivek Mehetre got past another local player Ajinkya Khalkar 56-31, 62-19, while Shubham Randhe put an end to the challenge from Sanjay Tatke 56-12, 61-23.
A total of 10 local players made the main draw which also includes Day 1 qualifiers Mayur Walhekar, Mustafa Khan, Harish Gaikwad, Mahesh Paigude (Wakad) and Laxmikant Dharashivkar.
