In other important matches of the day, wildcard Arya Bhivpathaki sneaked past Akshit Mahajan in a close encounter to make the Men’s singles round of 16 where he’ll come across Harshit Aggarwal on Friday.

Arya made good use of his vast reach in his 21-14, 8-21, 21-18 win over Akshit, who was struggling with a thigh injury. The win would spur on Arya who has been given a wild-card after missing large chunk of season with injury.

In another key tie, Kaushal Dharmamer stunned No 2 seed Pratul Joshi 21-15, 15-9 to enter the next round.
