Pune: GST Customs, Income Tax Department, Railway Police and Aspat Academy booked quarterfinals berths with easy wins over their respective opponents in the inaugural Ajit Dada Chashak Hockey Tournament at the Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium, Nehrunagar in Pimpri, on Thursday.
Railway Police rode on the individual heroics of Amol Bhosale (15th, 25th and 37th) to end the run of Chikalwadi Young Boys 3-0 after leading 2-0 at half-time.
In other results, GST Customs scored a 4-1 win over Hockey United, Income Tax Department had a 5-1 win over Pune City Police Boys and Aspat Academy blanked PCMC 10-2.
In an early afternoon match, Income Tax had Nitin Kumar (22nd, 49th) lead them through to the last-8 against Pune City Police Boys. Chirag Mane (5th), Atharva Kamble (24th), Vikram Singh (45th) were the other scorers for IT Department against Pune City Police Boys.
GST & Customs showed collective effort against Hockey United and had Manip Kerekatta (11th); Jonmo Majki (15th); Felix Baa (30th); Vikas Pillay (42nd) score in their win. Hockey United had Alfaz Sayyed (24th) reduce the margin.
Aspat Academy had a six-goal effort by Shakti Thakur help out in a huge 10-0 win over PCMC.
