Racing season down to 46 races from 55

Pune: The Mumbai racing season will kick off on November 19 and will carry on through to the April 15, 2018.

After having mixed fortunes in the Pune season, race goers are looking to make amends and probably have some better luck in Mumbai season which rolls down with few important and tradtional races.

The Mumbai racing season which used to be of 55 race days two years back has been reduced to 46 race meetings as the authorities of Royal Western India Turf Club were compelled to reduce the racing season due to financial crunch.

The Mumbai racing season which used to be of 55 race days two years back has been reduced to 46 race meetings as the authorities of Royal Western India Turf Club were compelled to reduce the racing season due to financial crunch.

As in the past, the Mahalaxmi racecourse will hold 5 classics namely the Indian 1000 & 2000 Guineas, Indian Oaks, Indian Derby and SA Poonawalla Million.

The other major races are the AC Ardeshir Trophy, Dawn RR Ruia Gold Cup, Dr.SC Jain Sprinters’ Trophy, CN Wadia Gold Cup.

Despite financial issues, Mumbai Racing season has been listed to have 20 night races which will be a star attraction this coming season.
