Pune shuttlers triumph over Nagpur to clinch title

Pune did not have a perfect start, as talented Varun Kapur lost a hard fought contest 17-21, 21-10, 24-22 against Rohan Gurbani.

PUNE: Pune’s Under-17 team came out with an impressive perfromance to clinch the Thane Mayor’s Trophy Maharashtra Junior Inter District and State Badminton Championship defeating Nagpur 3-1 at Dadoji Konddeo Stadium, Thane, on Thursday.

Pune did not have a perfect start, as talented Varun Kapur lost a hard fought contest 17-21, 21-10, 24-22 against Rohan Gurbani.

Tara Shah made it 1-all for Pune, as she got the better of Devika Kawale 21-13, 21-16. In the doubles contest, the pair from Pune, Ayush Khandekar and Parth Ghube overcome Rohan Gurbani and Sifat Arora 21-19, 21-15. 

Then, Ananya Phadke and Janhavi Kanitkar faced no trouble in outplaying Devika Kawale and Livia Ferandez.

RESULTS:
Pune beat Nagpur 3-1 (Varun Kapur lost to Rohan Gurbani 17-21, 21-10, 24-22; Tara Shah bt Devika Kawale 21-13, 21-16; Ayush Khandekar and Parth Ghube bt Rohan Gurbani and Sifat Arora 21-19, 21-15; Ananya Phadke and Janhavi Kanitkar bt Devika Kawale and Livia Ferandez 21-15, 21-14.)
