Pune Pathfinders Off-Road Carnival on Sept 16, 17

Pune: With 400 acres of natural landscape with a total of 8 special stages, the off-roading enthuiasts in Pune will have a busy weekend as Pune Pathfinders-Off-Road Carnival 2017 will take place at Satav Patil Farms, Chowki Dhani Road, Wagholi on September 16 and 17.

Pune: With 400 acres of natural landscape with a total of 8 special stages, the off-roading enthuiasts in Pune will have a busy weekend as Pune Pathfinders-Off-Road Carnival 2017 will take place at Satav Patil Farms, Chowki Dhani Road, Wagholi on September 16 and 17.

The annually conducted event has attracted 50 aspiring off-roaders this year. Limited to all registered 4WD four-wheel drives (4x4) and, excluded commercial and agriculture vehicles, the competition will be held in the Petrol Category, Diesel Category and the competitors would fight out for the Chief's Challenge and the Carnival Trophy. 

This year spectators will witness participants like Sameer Chunawala, Cedric Dasilva, Daulat Chaudhary, Jeet Tapasvi, Ajit Bacche and others who have experience of international off-road competitions. 

Detailing the event, Sandeep Anand, President, Pune Pathfinders said; “This variant of motorsport has caught the fancy of many these days as it compositely combines action, drama, camaraderie and heroism. In fact, the competition demands a perfect combination of driver, navigator and vehicle to work a podium finish.” 

Gagan Sethi, vice-president, Team Pune Pathfinders said; “the entire event will be marshalled by experienced individuals.” 

Explaining the in-trend new vertical in motorsport, Anand added: “Unlike other motorsport events, off-roading is not about speed but instead is all about patience, team work and control on the vehicle. There is major emphasis on safety, vehicle safety norms and various penalties have been included to ensure everyone follow safety norms.”

While off-roading remains a nascent sport in India the ‘Annual Off-Road Carnival’ provides a platform to learn and share nuances of the sport along with a host of seasoned participants.

This year the entry field includes several from Aurangabad, Ahmednagar, Mumbai, Satara, Kolhapur, Hyderabad, Ahmadabad, Silvasa, Bangalore, Goa, Belgaum, Gulbarga, Nagpur, Bhopal, Indore, Kerala and Pune.

Shubhendra Singh, Secretary, Pune Pathfinders, mentioned "As part of strict regulations the two-day competitive off-road event will be run on the lines and standards of international off-road events. The format adopted by team is amalgamation of handpicked best practices followed across globe.
