Pune League Kabaddi set to roll on July 21

Pune: Stage is set for Pune district players to showcase their attacking and catching skills in a three-day Pune League Kabaddi tournament, which will be held at Boxing Hall of the Balewadi Sports Complex from July 21 to 23.

The tournament is being organised on the occasion birthday of Ajit Pawar, the President of the Maharashtra Olympic Association (MOA) and of the Pune District Kabaddi Association (PDKA).

Laybhari Pimpri Chinchwad men’s and women’s team will be seen in action in the first match on an opening day at 2 pm on Mat 1 and 2 simultaneously.

Laybhari Pimpri Chinchwad men’s and women’s team will be seen in action in the first match on an opening day at 2 pm on Mat 1 and 2 simultaneously.

The men’s team will take on Zunzhar Khed, while women will start their campaign against Baladhyay Baramati.

As the day progresses, intense action is set on cards as 10 more matches are lined up. The last match of the day will see Baladhyay Baramati taking on Zunzhar Khed in the women’s category at 7:30 pm.
On Day 2 semifinals will start from 5:20 pm, while finals will be played on July 23.

“We want to promote the game of kabaddi. This will be our third year in a row and good response in the last two years urged us to increase the men’s team from four to six, ” said Baburao Chandere, Chief Secretary of PDKA.

Chandere also added that “All the members of the PKDA are very supportive and all have worked hard to make this tournament successful.”
All the nine teams were selected from the camp which was conducted at the Balewadi Sports Complex recently.
The league is being organised with the help of Nationalist Congress Party’s Baner-Balewadi-Pashan ward and Satej Sangh.

 Group A: Laybhari Pimpri-Chinchwad, Zunzhar Khed, Maay Mulshi.
Group B: Baladhyay Baramati, Vegwan Pune, Chhava Purandar.
Women:
Baladhyay Baramati, Vegwan Pune, Laybhari Pimpri-Chinchwad, Zunzhar Khed
