Pune keeps Mumbai mum

Pune: Smiles were back on the faces of Puneri Paltan team members as they thrashed neighbours U Mumba 43-24 in a Pro Kabaddi League Season 5 match at Balewadi Sports Complex on Saturday.

Raider Deepak Hooda who scored 16 points got the solid back up of Girish Ernak in the defence area where he scored 8 points.

This was third time in Season 5 where Pune got the better of neighbours Mumbai.

Starting on a slow note, Pune took a bit of time before starting to collect  a bagful of points. In the first five minutes, Mumbai was leading the game with the score of 4-1.

Rajesh Mondal collected two points in the eleventh minute which was ‘Do or die’ raid and that shifted the momentum in favour of the home side. With score levelled seven-all, Paltan roared back into the game and forced ‘All out’ in the 17th minute to take a 14-9 lead in the match.

Thalaivas tames Pirates
Two ‘Super 10s’ and two forced ‘All out’ helped Tamil Thalaivas to sign off Season 5 with a 40-37 victory over Patna Pirates.

In their last league match, the Chennai based team rode high on the performance of Ajay Thakur (14 points) and K Pranajan (11 points) as they never let Patna get back into the game.

Captain Pardeep collected 20 points for Patna but all went in vain as Thalaivas came out with an all-round show and never looked in trouble once they led 29-12 at half time.

In the second half, Patna came with an attacking approach but could not cross the victory line.
