Pune girls beat Mumbai Central to enter semi-final

The win ensured Pune a place in the semi-final

Pune: Diya Sethiya’s 20 points helped Pune defeat Mumbai Central 60-19 in the 45th Maharashtra State Inter District Basketball Championship for Sub Junior boys and Girls at the badminton hall in Balewadi Sports Complex here on Tuesday.

The win ensured Pune a place in the semi-final. The home team started off well and went into half time with a scoreline of 31-14. After resumption, Pune continued to dominate the game to complete a one-sided victory.

In the boys category as well, Pune overcame Amravati 58-32 to enter the semi-final. Kunal Bhosale was the top scorer for the Pune team scoring 24 points while Aryan Limaye and Anvit Shinde scored eight and six points respectively. For Amravati, Vedant Hirulkar scored 10 points.

Later in the day, the Beed boys scored a 72-47 win over Thane. In the high scoring match, both the teams were going neck to neck with half time score reading 26-23 in favour of Beed. After half time, Beed came out with an attacking approach to secure a 25-point victory.

Mumbai South East and Mumbai North are the other two teams, which qualified for the semi-finals in boys section. Among girls, Nagpur, Nashik and Mumbai entered the last four winning their respective matches.

Pune 58 (Kunal Bhosale 24, Aryan Limaye 8, Anvit Shinde 6) beat Amravati 32 (Smit Wankhade 8, Vedant Hirulkar 10). 
Beed 72 (Sahil Dhanwate 33, Azmat Khan 15) beat Thane 47 (Saksham Sonawane 11, Kartik Nair 11). Mumbai South East 41 (Rayyan Shaikh 14, Eaiz Shaikh 12) beat Mumbai Central 19 (Sachin Patel 6 , Ayaan Shaikh 5). 
Mumbai North 62 (Dev Premi 24, Aagam Jain 8) beat Kolhapur 17 (Yashvardhan Jadhav 11)
Girls: 
Pune 60 (Tanvi Salve 8, Diya Sethiya 20) beat Mumbai Central 19 (Aayushi Pandey 4, Reney Samel 4). 
Mumbai North 41 (Elisha Fernandes 9, Riccha Padmanabhan 9) beat Kolhapur 30 (Aditi Pargaonkar 18, Poorva Bhosale 6). 
Nashik 41 (Simran Bhawar 16, Sakshi Jaisinghani 7) beat Satara 39 (Gayatri Jaydeokar 12, Pradnya Nalwade 8). 
Nagpur 46 (Sameeksha Chandak 11, Dhara Phate 8) beat Aurangabad 12 (Anannya Mehta 7).
