Deepak Hooda and Sandeep Narwal collect 21 points to give Puneri Paltan a 38-22 victory over opponents Haryana Steelers

Sonepat: Deepak Hooda and Sandeep Narwal will leave their home state Haryana with a big smile as they helped Puneri Paltan score an emphatic 38-22 victory over Haryana Steelers in Pro Kabaddi League Season 5 on Wednesday.

At Motilal Nehru School of Sports in Sonepat, Captain Deepak played impressive kabaddi right from the start and collected 13 raid points. Pune started with a brisk pace as they forced an ‘all out’ in the ninth minute with the score line of 7-1 in the favour of Pune.

For the visitors, everything clicked right from start. Raiders Deepak, Sandeep, Rajesh Mondal and Monu were going good with their raids and collected points in tandem.

The defence did not look worried as Girish Earnak was taking a lead in the absence of Dharmaraj Cherlathan who started as substitiute. Haryana looked over dependent on Wazir Singh as he was taking most of the raids in the first half. Once he was out other raiders failed to collect points.

Titans triumph
‘Super raid’ from captain Ajay Thakur in the 39th minute sealed the deal for Tamil Thalaivas as they defeated UP Yoddha 34-33.
Getting ‘all out’  in the first five minutes did not make any difference for Thalaivas as they rallied back into the game. Before Ajay, K Prapanjan was successful in getting two super raids which kept Thalaivas in the game.

Results: Match 1: Tamil Thalaivas 34 (Ajay Thakur 8, K Prapanjan 6, Amit Hooda 4) bt UP Yoddha 33 (Nitin Tomar 14, Rishank Devadiga 8, Nitesh Kumar 5); Top Defender: Nitesh Kumar (UP Yoddha)

Match 2: Puneri Paltan 38 (Deepak Hooda 13, Sandeep Narwal 8) vs Haryana Steelers 22 (Deepak Dahiya 11, Wazir Singh 3)
Top Defender: Sandeep Narwal (Puneri Paltan); Top Raider: Deepak Hooda (Puneri Paltan).
