Pratul triumphs in Sr Ranking  Badminton

City-based Pratul Joshi bagged his third title of the 2017-18 season claiming the men’s singles title at Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta Memorial All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament 2018 Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.

Pune: City-based Pratul Joshi bagged his third title of the 2017-18 season claiming the men’s singles title at Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta Memorial All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament 2018 Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.

Top-seeded Pratul fought off the challenge of twelfth ranked Kartik Jindal (Haryana) 21-15, 11-21, 21-18 in a 61-minute battle. In the semifinals he downed Arintap Dasgupta (West Bengal) 21-23, 21-10, 21-1 after beating Swarnaraj Bora (Delhi) 24-22, 21-19 in the last-8.

Last year, Pratul had finished runners-up at Bareilly losing in the three games.

Pratul who joined the Nikhil Kanatekar Badminton Acacdemy - NKBA two years ago had earlier claimed All-India titles at Guntur, Andhra Pradesh (b Kiran George 22-20, 21-17) in October 2017 and then pocketed the All-India title at Sikkim (b No. 5 Siddharath Thakur 13-21, 21-16, 21-15).

Currently, Pratul is ranked India No. 2 with 3148 points.
