Prajnesh stuns Radu in semis

Pune: Prajnesh Gunneswaran kept his reputation as India’s new tennis star as he reached the second finals in a row upsetting top seed Radu Albot at the KPIT MSLTA ATP Challenger being played at the Balewadi Tennis Complex here on Friday.
Prajnesh upset the top seed and World No 102 Radu Albot of Moldova 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 in exactly two hours.
“I made my game today and put pressure at the right time, I played consistently in the match. I will go for the second title in a row for sure,” said Prajnesh.
Prajnesh’s opponent will be third seeded Elias Ymer of Sweden, who stopped the winning run of Bradyen Schnur of Canada 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in 1 hour and 53 minutes.
It will be an Indian fest as N.Vijay Sundar Prashanth partnering Ramkumar Ramanathan upset Andrej Martin of Slovakia and Hans Podlipnik-Castillo of Chile 7-6 (9-7), 6-0.
The Indian pair will take on Asian games silver medallist and third seeded Taipei pair of Hsieh Cheng-Peng and Yang Tsung-Hua who accounted for Australian pair of Max Purcell and Luke Saville 6-7, 6-3, 10-6.
The doubles finals will be played at 3.30 pm followed by the singles finals at 5.30 pm, the entry for which will be free.
