Pirates end home run with win against Warriors

Patna: It was the perfect end of the home leg for Patna Pirates as they defeated a fighting Bengal Warriors 29-27 during the Pro Kabaddi League Season 6 match here at the Patliputra Sports Complex on Thursday.

Taking to the mat at home one last time this season, Patna Pirates were looking to end their four game losing streak while Bengal Warriors looked to continue winning after their good performance in their last game against Jaipur Pink Panthers where they displayed good team work.  

Bengal Warriors opened the account first when Jang Kun Lee scored his first point through a bonus in the opening minute. In the third minute, Jang Kun Lee made it 4-0 for Bengal Warriors with another successful raid when he got a running hand touch on Deepak Narwal. Meanwhile Tushar Patil gave the home team its first point in the 5th minute when he got away from an ankle hold attempt.

The 7th minute saw some good work from Manjeet as he went through to get away from the ankle hold which was attempted by Surjeet Singh as the score read 3-4 with the Pirates inching closer. Some quick points saw the Pirates overtaking the Warriors as they surged ahead  on the scoreline.   

In the 11th minute, an all out was effected on Bengal Warriors when Ran Singh went in for the raid and scored a bonus point but ran into the arms of Vijay. With two minutes to go for the first half to end, the score read 13-12 with Patna leading by a point. Finally at the end of the first half, the score read 15-12 with the hosts in command.

In the 24th minute, one technical point was awarded to the Warriors as both Tushar Patil and Vijay  went in to raid. In the next minute, Jang Kun Lee displayed a good game as he got rid of Tushar Patil with a reverse kick as the score read 16-15 with the Warriors closing in.

In the 29th minute, Jang Kun Lee was the player to watch as scored a good raid as he got a kick on Vijay and slipped in the process, he managed to run away with a point before Jaideep could come in and tackle Lee as the score read 19-18. With 7 minutes to go for the second half, the Pirates were on their toes as the score read 22-20 with the match poised to have a close ending.
