Pande, Dalvi record wins in quarter finals

Second-seeded Siddesh Pande from Thane defeated 10th seeded city mate Deepit Patil 11-7,11-9,11-8,11-4 in the men’s quarterfinals match of the 49th Inter-district and 80th State Table Tennis Championship in progress at the Balewadi Sports Complex on Thursday.

In another quarterfinal match, sixth-seeded Jash Dalvi from Thane beat 14th seeded Mumbai Suburbs player Ravindra Kotiyan 11-7, 11-8, 10-12, 7-11, 11-9, 11-7 while 12th seed Bhavesh Apte from Mumbai Suburbs beat 4th seeded Omkar Torgalkar also from Mumbai Suburbs with the score reading 11-7, 13-11, 6-11, 11-8, 4-11, 11-9.

Meanwhile, 16th seeded, Chinmaya Somaiya put on a good show as he defeated 9th seeded Puneet Desai as the score read 11-13, 11-1, 12-10, 11-5, 13-11.

In the quarterfinals of the Youth Boys category, first seeded Siddhesh Pande defeated 9th seeded Parthav Kelkar from  Mumbai Central 12-14,9-11,11-7,11-4,12-10,11-4 while fifth-seeded Vipul Nandkar from Thane toiled hard to beat 4th seeded Air India player Mandar Hardikar 11-6,9-11,11-8,12-10,12-14,4-11,11-9 to enter the next round.

In another quarterfinal action, 6th seeded Ashwin Subramanium from Mumbai Suburbs defeated third-seeded Raegan Albuquerque from Air India 11-4,9-11,10-12,15-13,3-11,11-9,11-8 while 15 seeded Air India’s Gaurav Lohapatre defeated Jash Dalvi as the score read 12-10,7-11,12-10,11-4,11-7.

In the quarterfinal battle of the Junior Boys category, second-seeded, Thane player Deepit Patil proved to be better than 10th seeded Air India player Hrishikesh Malhotra as he won with the score reading 11-13,5-11,11-6,11-1,11-5,11-3. In another match, third-seeded Vipul Nandkar defeated Jash Modi who is 11th seeded with the score of 11-6,11-8,11-6,11-8.
