Paltan tame Panthers 29-25

Pune: Five ‘Super Tackles’ by Puneri Paltan defenders did the trick as they overcame Jaipur Pink Panthers 29-25 in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 6 match at Balewadi Sports Complex, badminton hall on Friday.

Pune who was ‘All out’ in the 37th minute of the game held their nerves brilliantly to score a victory.

It were the youngsters of the Pune team who set up the platform of victory with Monu, Ravi Kumar and Akshay Jadhav scoring seven, six and three points respectively.

With Girish Ernak and Nitin Tomar having a little dull day on the mat, the job was done by young players.

For Jaipur, Deepak Hooda was the lone player who kept scoring in raiding as well as defence but other players failed to perform.

Pune who was coming into the match after going down against Gujarat Fortunegiants in the first home leg match started on a slow note.

Nitin Tomar and Girish Ernak both failed to score in the initial moments of the match while on the other side former Pune player Deepak started taking points from his first raid.

Deepak took the points in raiding and as well as defence while for the home team it was young Monu and Akshay who scored initial points.

From there onwards Pune started to crawl into the match.

A solid defence from Telugu Titans defenders helped them to secure a 35-31 victory over defending champions Patna Pirates in the first match of the day. In the raiding department it was Rahul Chaudhari and Nilesh Salunke who collected 7 and 5 points respectively.

For Patna, star raider Pardeep Narwal could not do much on the mat and managed only 5 points.

Pirates were slight ahead at half time with the score line reading 17-14 in their favour. After resumption, Titans came out with an attacking approach in both the departments, which was enough to outplay Pirates.
