Deepak Hooda has become a very mature player, who will be leading team for the first time. Earlier, Hooda used to focus only on his game but now he takes extra efforts to mix up with the players and takes initiative to hang out with players. He controls his temper, takes suggestions from seniors and also motivates young boys this is what a good captain does and he is doing every thing right at the moment.
Pune team will face U Mumba in their first match of PKL-5 on Friday.
Pune: Fitness drills, improvement of skills and match practice were the key aspects on which Puneri Paltan focused during the last one month in the pre-season camp.
Now the team is all ready to execute their plans on the mat as they start their campaign against mighty neighbours, U Mumba, on Friday in the second match of the Day 1 at the Pro Kabaddi League Season-5 (PKL-5) in Hyderabad .
The team will depart from Pune on Wednesday afternoon for Hyderabad where they have only one game scheduled.
Riding high on their No 3 position finish in previous two seasons, Pune added a number of all rounders to their team and has become more flexible outfit now.
A key member of last two seasons, Deepak Hooda, is captaining the side and he has the support of players like Sandeep Narwal, Rajesh Mondal and Dharamaraj Cheralathan, who have already proved their mettle.
“In this season boys were well prepared before the start of the camp. Their fitness level was good and in first three weeks, we enhanced their endurance, skills and stamina. In the last week focus was shifted to preparation on the mat, ” Kailash Kandpal told Sakal Times ahead of the departure.
The team started its practice camp at Symbiosis International University in Lavale Campus and then moved to Balewadi Sports Complex for the match practice for last one week.
