NKBA’s Arya fifth in Chinese Taipei

Pune: Arya Jadhav from Nikhil Kanetkar Badminton Academy (NKBA) narrowly missed a medal as he finished fifth in the Boys’ Singles category of the 2019 Youth World Deaf Badminton Championships which took place at Chinese Taipei.

The NKBA lad who was selected to represent India at the event went down in the quarterfinals against Chun Hei Lau from Hong Kong as the score read 14-21, 19-21.

In the fourth round, Arya Jadhav defeated country mate Hritik Anand 21-10, 13-21, 21-17 to advance further.

Earlier in the third round, Arya beat Slovakia’s Peter Petrovic 18-21, 21-11, 21-6. Meanwhile in the second round, Japan’s Tomohito Fujimoto defeated Arya 21-12, 21-17. The first round witnessed Arya defeating Fairus Anwar from Indonesia with the scoreline of 21-12, 21-12.
