Nayan wins gold for Maha in Sub-Jr Natl Taekwondo

Pune: Nayan Bargaj struck yet another gold medal for Maharashtra when she won the girls’ 35-kg class during the 34th Sparring and 8th Pumse National Sub-junior Taekwondo Championship being conducted here by the Taekwondo Association of Maharashtra under the aegis of the Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI).

On the final day of the championship, Aniruddha Bandal and Shifa Shaikh both won silver medals for Maharashtra in their respective weight categories.

Nayan defeated Mahima Kumari of Bihar in the final to clinch the gold medal at the championship conducted at the Rajaram Bhiku Pathare Stadium in Kharadi.

Rajasthan’s Ruchika Chatirvedi and Siya Mishra of Delhi won bronze medals.

In the boy’s 32-kg category final, Aniruddha Bandal lost to Ravi Gharati of Chandigarh and had to settle for the silver medal. Kshitij Tiwari of Uttar Pradesh and Thulein Saikia of Assam won the bronze medals.

In the girls individual pumse category, Maharashtra girl Shifa Shaikh had to settle for silver medal after losing to Madhumita Mohanty of Odisha.
