Nagpur girls clinch title

Pune: Nagpur girls defeated hosts Pune 67-59 to clinch the title of the 45th Maharashtra State Inter District Basketball Championship for Youth (Under-13) boys and girls which concluded at the Balewadi Sports Complex here on Wednesday.

The score at half-time read 36-26 with the visitors leading. For Nagpur, Dhara Phate scored 22 points while Shomira Bidaye scored 18 points followed by Sameeksha Chandak who scored nine points.

For Pune, Mansi Nirmalkar scored 19 points while Bhumika Sharje scored 12 points followed by Tanvi Salve who added 11 points to the tally.

In the battle for the third place, Mumbai North defeated Nashik 38-12. Kaitlyn Machado (10) and Elisha Fernandes (5) struck for Mumbai North while Simran Bhawar (5)  scored for Nashik. In the boys final, Mumbai South East defeated hosts Pune 71-44 to walk home with the title.

Girls final: 
Nagpur 67 (Dhara Phate 22, Shomira Bidaye 18, Sameeksha Chandak 9) bt Pune 59 (Mansi Nirmalkar 19, Bhumika Sharje 12, Tanvi Salve 11) Half-time 36-26.
Third place: 
Mumbai North 38 (Kaitlyn Machado 10, Elisha Fernandes 5) bt Nashik 12 (Simran Bhawar 5) Half-time 20-5.
Boys final: 
Mumbai South East 71 (Faiz Shaikh 23, Faraz Shaikh 7, Vedant Rawoot 7) bt Pune 44(Kunal Bhosale 16, Megh Atre 7, Shardul Pathak 7) Half-time 33-29.
Third place: 
Mumbai North 57 (Dev Premi 12, Dean Martis 6) bt Beed 22 (Sahil Dhanwate 11) Half-time 27-12.
