MMCC triumphs in regional final

PUNE: Marathwada Mitramandal College of Commerce (MMCC), Pune, defeated  Dhanwate National College (DNC), Nagpur and Shree Damodar College, Goa, to ensure a place in the National final of the Red Bull Campus Cricket championship at Vision Cricket ground.

To win the regional final, the team had to win two matches, which MMCC did by defeating the teams from Goa and Nagpur.

In the first match, MMCC defeated Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics, Goa, by a massive margin of 138 runs.

Invited to bat first, MMCC batsman Shubham Nagawade’s swashbuckling 100 runs off  47 balls, which included 7 boundaries and 9 sixes, helped MMCC to 249/2 in allotted 20 overs. In reply, the Goan team was bowled out for 111 runs in 17 overs.

In the second match, MMCC notched a 10-wicket win over Dhanwate National College Nagpur. 

Inviting DNC to bat, MMCC bowlers bowled out DNC for 106 runs. MMCC completed the target without losing any wickets.

Now, MMCC will play in the knockout rounds of quarterfinals, semifinals and finals respectively in the National final round. 

The winner will then represent India in the Red Bull Campus Cricket World Series Championship. Past winners from India that have gone on to represent the country at the World Championships are Rizvi College, Mumbai, DAV College, Chandigarh; Swami Shraddhanand College, Delhi and MMCC, Pune. 

BRIEF SCORES:
MMCC 249 for 2 in 20 overs beat Shree Damodar College, Goa 111 all out in 17.1 overs.
Dhanwate National College, Nagpur 106 all out in 20 overs lost to MMCC 110 runs in 7.5 overs.
