MMCC clinches National Final

Pune: Marathwada Mitramandals College of Commerce (MMCC) Pune defeated Rizvi Mumbai to emerge as the champions of the Red Bull Campus Cricket National finals held at PCA Stadium in Mohali.

MMCC, which reached the final defeating Swami Shraddhanand College of New Delhi, will now represent India in the world finals of this global T20 college cricket tournament in Sri Lanka later this year.

The match saw plenty of drama with both teams finishing with scores of 139 runs in 20 overs. 

In the Super Over as well, there was no outcome as both teams scored 12 runs each. So after the Super Over, umpires declared Pune team as the winner by highest boundary system.

“Many youngsters tend to drop out of colleges in order to pursue their dreams in the world of cricket but this tournament helps to improve their game without comprising on academics,” technical director of Red Bull campus cricket Javagal Srinath said.

Pune 139 for 6 in 20 overs beat Mumbai 139 for 6 in 20 overs
Super Over: Mumbai 12 runs; Pune: 12 runs
After the Super Over, umpires declared Pune team as the winner by highest boundary system.
