Maharashtra girls start with victory

Mugdha and Sruthi Menon scored 18 points each as Maharashtra were in control of the game. For Delhi, Manali scored 16 points.

PUNE: Maharashtra girls defeated Delhi 44-26 on the first day of the 32nd Federation Cup which commenced at the District Sports Authority in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.

The championship is being organised by the Basketball Association in Andhra Pradesh under the aegis of the Basketball Federation of India.

Mugdha and Sruthi Menon scored 18 points each as Maharashtra were in control of the game. For Delhi, Manali scored 16 points.

In another encounter of the day, Karnataka got the better of Andhra Pradesh with the score of 45-19. For Karnataka was impressive as she scored nine points.

Also registering a victory was Eastern Railways who defeated Telangana with the score read 64-22. Salma was the top scorer for Eastern Railways with 13 points to her credit. 

In another encounter, Kerala defeated opponents Tamil Nadu 66-60 in a close encounter.

In the men’s battle, Customs and Excise, Cochin defeated Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) with the score of 70-62 while Indian Overseas Bank, Chennai defeated opponents Hisar Club, Haryana 73-65 followed by MEG Bangalore who defeated Punjab Police 66-58.
