Maharashtra’s Dev, Prutha win titles in National TT

In all-Maharastra Boys’ final, Pune’s Dev Shroff overcame Thane’s Deepit Patil 4-0 to clinch the coveted gold for his state. Dev beat Yashansh Malik of Delhi (9-11, 11-7, 11-6, 7-11, 11-5, 9-11, 11-8) in the semifinal.

SILIGURI: Two young Maharashtra players, Dev Shroff and Prutha Vartikar, made ripples in the 11Sports National Ranking TT Championships 2017 ( East Zone), winning the Sub-Junior Boys’ and Cadet Girls’ titles here on Wednesday.

In all-Maharastra Boys’ final, Pune’s Dev Shroff overcame Thane’s Deepit Patil 4-0 to clinch the coveted gold for his state. Dev beat Yashansh Malik of Delhi (9-11, 11-7, 11-6, 7-11, 11-5, 9-11, 11-8) in the semifinal.

Pune’s Prutha Vartikar also had it fairly easy among Cadet Girls, getting the better of top-seeded Suhana Saini of Haryana 3-0 (11-1, 11-9, 11-9) in the semifinals. In the final, she beat Nehal Venkatasamy of Tamil Nadu 4-0 (11-7, 11-9, 11-6, 11-8) to clinch the gold.

The zone-wise National Ranking TT Championships 2017 are one of the most important fixtures on the Indian domestic calendar.
