Madhyamik Vidyalaya and  Huzurpaga win titles in kabaddi

Pune: Kothrud’s Madhyamik Vidyalaya and HHCP Huzurpaga High School beat their rivals to triumph in boys’ and girls’ events respectively in Schoolympics Kabaddi event at Nehru Stadium on Thursday.

Pune: Kothrud’s Madhyamik Vidyalaya and HHCP Huzurpaga High School beat their rivals to triumph in boys’ and girls’ events respectively in Schoolympics Kabaddi event at Nehru Stadium on Thursday.

Madhyamik Vidyalaya beat Priyadarshini Vidyalaya 40-32 in a nerve-wreking contest that went down to  the wire. Deepak Sharma and Ajay Chorghe were the star performers for Madhyamik Vidyalaya as they raised their game at a key juncure in the contest. The duo led with key raids and played important role in defence too, as Madhyamik Vidyalaya got some crucial points in the defence. 

Priyadarshini tried hard to make a comeback with aggressive raids of their own, but Akash Jadhav’s lone fight was not enough for them to eke out the 8-point deficit.

Modern wins 3rd place
In the earlier match, Modern High School, NCL campus beat Shree Sant Dnyaneshwar Madhyamik Vidyalaya 47-45 to clinch the third place playoff and secure consolation bronze medal.
The match saw the lead exchanged several times, but Modern High School scored crucial raid points towards the fag end of the contest to register a comeback win.

In the girls event final, HHCP Huzurpaga High School beat Renuka Swaroop High School 33-28 to win the gold medal in style. Sakshi Paygude and Varsha Pawar were the star performers for Huzurpaga High School as they never relinquished the lead they took in the first half of an intense contest.
