Pune: Loyola High School, Pashan defeated Delhi Public School, Kondhwa 50-30 to clinch the gold medal in the basketball event of Sakal presents Mapro Schoolympics in progress at Deccan Gymkhana on Thursday.
Jonathan Paul top scored for Loyola with 22 points while Samarsinh Shitole scord 12 points followed by Prem Parab who scored 9 points. For Delhi Public School, Neil Pande scored 12 points while Aditya Lunawat scored 9 points followed by Kartik Ladha who scored 7 points.
In the fight for the bronze medal, J.N. Petit Technical High School, Bund Garden Road defeated Army Public School, Ghorpadi 27-23. Mohit Upadhyay (11), Piyush Moda (8) and Chacko Akash (8) struck for JN Petit. For Army Public School, Vijay Jadhav scored 12 points while Daksh Sharma and Samiksh Khule scored 4 points each.
In the girls final, Sardar Dastur Nosherwan Girl’s High School, Camp defeated Symbiosis School, Prabhat Road 29-15 to win the gold medal.
Tanvi Salve (9), Saanika Kirad (5), Gayatri Shejwalkar (4) and Bhumika Sarje (4) struck for Sardar Dastur. Meanwhile Shalini Shirole top scored for Symbiosis with 7 points.
In the bronze medal match, St.Mary’s School, Camp defeated S.P.M. English School Secondary, Sadashiv Peth 31-29. Ishani Srinivasan (23), Shamali Angal (6) and Aastha Jain (2) got on the scoreline for St Mary’s.
