Krida Prabodhini, MPHA in summit clash

Defending champions Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy (MPHA) and local favourites Krida Prabodhini will lock horns for the 3rd SNBP All-India Hockey Tournament (Boys Under-16) at the Shiv Chhatrapathi Sports Complex, Mhalunge-Balewadi, here on Sunday.

Pune: Defending champions Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy (MPHA) and local favourites Krida Prabodhini will lock horns for the 3rd SNBP All-India Hockey Tournament (Boys Under-16) at the Shiv Chhatrapathi Sports Complex, Mhalunge-Balewadi, here on Sunday.

In the first semi-final on Saturday, Krida Prabodhini fought off the challenge of SNBP Academy 4-2 in a comeback win.

SNBP were the first to score when Subham Lalhorya (9th) converted a penalty-stroke. After settling in KP restored parity when Dhairashil Jadhav (29th) levelled 1-1 to end the first half action.

On resumption, KP struck via Prathamesh Hajare (36th) to take the lead. However, SNBP did not give up and levelled scores via Shadab Mohammed (45th) to make it 2-2.

KP pressed hard and struck twice in a span of three minutes with Aditya Lalge (51st) making it 3-2 and later Prathamesh (54th) to round off the tally.

The second semi-final encounter had MPHA run up a 6-1 scoreline against Jai Bharat Hockey to walk into the final.

MPHA took the lead when Dingku Sharma scored in the 5th minute. Jai Bharat struck back in quick succession when Ankit (9th) made it 1-1.
Thereafter MPHA let loose. Priyo Barta (12th and 54th) gained succession from penalty corners. Then, Dinku (19th) got his second, while Abdul Ahad (43rd) and Ankit Khatia (45th) added a goal each.

SF1: Krida Prabodhini: 4(Dhairyashil Jadav 29th; Prathamesh Hajare 36th, 54th; Aditya Lalge 51st) b SNBP Academy: 2 (Subham Lalhorya 9th; Shadab Mohammed 45th). HT: 1-1
SF2: Madhya Pradesh HA: 6 (Dingku Sharma 5th, 19th; Priyo Barta 12th,, 54th; Abdul Ahad 43rd; Ankit Khatia 45th) bt Jai Bharat Hockey: 1 (Ankit 9th). HT: 3-1.
