Kavitha Reddy wins Pune Women’s Half Marathon

Kavitha Reddy grabbed the first place clocking 1:36:38 hours in the Pune Women’s Half Marathon organised by Free Runners Charitable Trust (FCT) on Sunday. 

Pune: Kavitha Reddy grabbed the first place clocking 1:36:38 hours in the Pune Women’s Half Marathon organised by Free Runners Charitable Trust (FCT) on Sunday. 
 
The marathon had three categories- 21 km, 10 km and 4 km. The half marathon (21 km) saw Himangi Godbole finish on the second place with a timing of 1:55:59 hours while Archana Oak finished third clocking 1:57:09 hours.

In the 10 km category, Vinaya Malusare, who finished the run in 39:23 minutes stood first while Swati Basu Vhanwade  who clocked 40:17 minutes stood second and Yamini Umesh Thakre finished on the third place with a timing of 42:48 minutes.

Over 4,500 women from diverse backgrounds and of different ages ran together in this marathon to stress the importance of fitness in women’s life, which often gets ignored. This was the third year of this marathon and this year’s central theme was- ‘My Revolution’. 
 
The race started from Police Adhishak Karyalay and went along Pashan road.

Neena Saini, co-ordinator for Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) and Regional President, AWWA Southern Command, flagged off the 4 km run. Sangeeta Lalwani, Chairperson, FLO (FICCI Ladies Organization) and Secretary of Free Runners Charitable Trust flagged off the 21 km run and Javed Pansare, PWHM 2019 Race Director, flagged off the 10 km run.
