Kapil in action at Oxford Golf Resort today

Pune: Former Indian cricket captain and now an amateur golfer, Kapil Dev, will be seen in action at the picturesque Oxford Golf Resort here on Saturday in the Pune leg of the Krishnapatanam Port Golden Eagles Golf Championship.

The four-city corporate golf championship, which teed-off in Bengaluru at the Prestige Golfshire last week, has lined up Kapil Dev, top Indian woman golfer Sharmila Nicollet and International golfer Ashlen Ramsey as the face of the tournament, in which some of the top corporate golfers will be seen in action.

The four-city corporate golf championship, which teed-off in Bengaluru at the Prestige Golfshire last week, has lined up Kapil Dev, top Indian woman golfer Sharmila Nicollet and International golfer Ashlen Ramsey as the face of the tournament, in which some of the top corporate golfers will be seen in action.

Owing to Delhi hosting Hero Indian Women’s Open, an European Ladies Tour event this week, Sharmila Nicollet will not be seen in action in Pune. Nicollet is part of the strong Indian contingent led by Rio Olympian Aditi Ashok at the Women’s Indian Open that began on Friday at the DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurgaon. Sunday in the final day of the Indian Open.

The Golden Eagles Golf championship then moves to Hyderabad (November 18) and the season finale is scheduled at the Greg Norman-Signature Jaypee Greens Golf Resort in Greater Noida on December 3.
This is the third season for the Krishnapatanam Golf championship wherein golfers from more than 500 companies take part across the four legs.

“The idea behind holding this tournament is to promote golf as an exceptional sport experience. Sport is one of the best medium to bring people together as it has the power to inspire and unite people. Golf is still an emerging sport in India, it’s our step towards making it popular in India,” said C Sasidhar, Managing Director of Krishnapatnam Port Company Limited said.
