Pune: SK Sunderji- trained Intense Stylist gave jockey S Zervan an armchair ride to a widening eight length pillar-to-post victory in the Southern Command Gold Trophy at the Pune Race Course here on Saturday.
Intense Stylist did not face any opposition at all and looked very comfortable all the way.
Jetfire could not keep up the pace in spite of coming up with a sudden burst at the 100 metre mark and came in a poor second followed by Non Plus Ultr, who ran an impressive race, coming in a far off third.
This horse should do well in 1600m races.
Rough One finished a long way behind in the fourth place.
The bay colt, Intense Stylist, is owned by Rajesh Monga. Lt Gen DR Soni, VSM, General Southern Command, presented the trophy to the owners of Intense Stylist after the race.
The race course saw a large turnout of army officials and their families adding to the fan fare.
The eighth race day was disastrous for punters with only two favourites obliging out of a card of six races. RWITC thanked Lt Gen DR Soni, VSM, GOC-in-Chief, who presided over the presentation ceremony. “It was one of the best Army Days ever in its illustrious history. The replicating of a battle field on the centre of the race course, the helicopter fly past, were to be seen to be believed,” Soni said.
